New Sunday Services Schedule

Find out about our new Sunday Services Schedule beginning September 25

Beginning September 25, our Sunday morning schedule will be:

  • 9am Traditional worship service - in the Sanctuary
  • 10am Contemporary worship service - in the Ministry Center
  • 11:15am Contemporary worship service - in the Ministry Center
  • Online services will be shown at 9am (Traditional) and 10am (Contemporary)

Here are some more details about Sunday mornings with this new schedule:

  • We will offer adult classes at both 9am and 10am.
  • We will offer Children’s Ministry for nursery up to pre-K (possibly more depending on the need) at 9am.
  • We will have full Children’s Ministry (Nursery and Sunday school) at 10am
  • We will assess the need at 11:15am based on the families who attend.
  • A Middle school class will meet at 10am (with goal of having them worship at 11:15am).
  • A High school class will meet at 10am (with goal of having them worship at 11:15am).
  • We will have coffee times in Parish Hall after both the 9am and 10am worship services if there is team of volunteers who are willing to help.
  • 11:15am service will be geared more toward students and younger demographic

Please read more about this change from our Senior Pastor, Jeff Lee:

Our Session, staff team and I want to help our church have as many ways as possible to participate on Sunday mornings. We want to help you grow closer to God and one another. We also want to clear the way for as many people as possible to discover and embrace the hope of Christ.

I, along with our Session, discerned late last year that we needed to update our Sunday morning schedule in light of a set of challenges that were limiting how our church could participate in worship services, classes and other ways to connect (e.g. coffee times).

  • Here are some challenges that I/we observed:Limited capacity in both worship service venues. We have two medium-sized rooms (Sanctuary and Ministry Center). The gym has functioned as overflow for the Contemporary worship service but we need to increase capacity by adding another service.
  • Middle school and High school students have not participated in worship services. Middle school students have attended the Breakaway class at 9:30am but have not attended the 11am Traditional service. A majority of high school students have not participated in worship services (though some have helped with Tech/Production).
  • Lack of Children’s Ministry at the current 11am Traditional service has led some families to not attend in person for that worship service
  • Unclear time(s) and opportunities for Adult Discipleship groups/classes
  • Difficulties with hosting ways to connect like coffee time

Session empowered a Task Force to analyze the challenges and provide potential schedules to address them. The Task Force provided a questionnaire earlier this year to discern more about our current Sunday morning schedule and that yielded helpful information. The results helped us understand more about how our church participates on Sunday mornings. In addition, the results revealed that we are an aging congregation that needs to take intentional steps to grow younger and reach out to the younger demographic.

I worked with this Task Force to develop a set of goals for the updated Sunday morning schedule.

  1. The goals are the following:To maximize participation on Sunday mornings (worship services, groups/classes for all ages, coffee times, etc.) for both our current worship service attenders AND those who are not yet part of our church community or have yet to return.
  2. To engage the younger demographic (including students and young adults in our worship services).
  3. To reinvigorate all our worship services.

Here is the updated Sunday morning schedule:

  • 9am Traditional worship service
  • 10am Contemporary worship service
  • 11:15am Contemporary worship service
  • Online services will be shown at 9am (Traditional) and 10am (Contemporary)

We will be trying out this schedule starting Sunday, September 25th through the end of the year. We will be assessing the schedule along the way based on specific questions that came from our analysis of the congregational questionnaire and analysis. Our goal is to then make any adjustments to the schedule for the start of 2023.

I am excited for trying out this new Sunday morning schedule and learning about how we can help more and more people participate on Sunday mornings with NPPC. I ask that you start planning now for ways to renew how you participate on Sunday mornings.

May God continue to lead us forward together as we seek to help people discover, embrace and share the life-transforming hope of Jesus Christ.

In Christ,

Pastor Jeff Lee
